Montgomery Mauro

Hi there! My name is Monty.

I am a commercial director, writer, and filmmaker based in LA. The son of two Italian Americans, born and raised in New York, I grew up spending winters playing pond hockey with my friends and summers filming fake commercials in the backyard with my brothers. Since then, I have had the pleasure of directing real ad campaigns for brands including HelloFresh, Factor, Hellmann’s, Walmart, Caraway and more. I’m passionate about cinematic storytelling that captures how a product feels, allowing it to shine and perform. Whether a spot is dialogue-driven or visual comedy, I move fluidly between tone and performance, crafting work that is visually engaging while drawing nuanced, grounded performances from talent. With a background in acting, my strength lies in creating sets where performers and crew feel comfortable, confident, and supported.

Growing up, I watched a lot of movies that I was probably too young for, having two older brothers will do that, but it developed my love for film.  As a starry-eyed PA, a director gave me some great advice that changed everything: “Don’t wait for someone to give you an opportunity, create your own.” So I created my own production company, No2Mauro Productions, directing the comedy series The Show, the award winning short documentary Bar Sepia, and most recently, the short crime thriller Paradox. I produced a feature film, Exposure 36, that was recognized by The New York Times as one of “Five Science Fiction Movies to Stream Now.”

I love to collaborate with amazing people so please reach out and lets make something great together!
